Old Classical Odia movie ‘Parinama’ re-released

Bhubaneswar: A restored and digitised version of Odia classic movie Parinama was screened here at Jaydev Bhawan Tuesday by The Film Journalists’ Forum (FJF), a group of passionate cinescribes.

After an exhaustive research, FJF managed to locate the long-lost print of this cinematic gem, said Surya Deo, an active member of the Forum.

Presented by Utkal Chalachitra Pratisthana and directed by Biswanath Nayak, the film had Pramod Panigrahi and Gitisudha in lead roles. Dukhiram Swain, Dhira Biswal, Master Mania, Purna Chand, Sundarmani, Kishori Devi, and Karik Ghosh played other key roles. Tushar Panigrahi, brother of former Odisha CM Nandini Satpathy, played the main antagonist in the movie.

Bhubaneswar Mishra scored the music, while Akshay Mohanty, Sandhya Mukherjee, and Nirmala Mishra lent voice to the songs.
Parinama, the 12th Odia film with duration of 90 minutes, was released in Capital Talkies (Cuttack), Srikrushna Talkies (Puri), and Utkal Talkies (Aska) November 3, 1960.
