Bhubaneswar: In a significant move to encourage the film industry, the Odisha government has decided to refund the tax collected from five films released in the state. The decision will benefit both Odia and Hindi films, including Daman, Delivery Boy, Zwigato, 12th Fail, and Sabarmati Report.

According to official sources, the CT & GST Commissionerate and the Finance Department have issued instructions for the reimbursement of the tax amount already collected as CT/GST from these films.

Out of the five, Odia-language films Daman and Delivery Boy have been major crowd-pullers, while the Hindi films Zwigato, Twelfth Fail, and Sabarmati Report, which were also shot in Odisha, will receive the refund as part of the government’s decision.

The move is being seen as a step to promote regional cinema and encourage film production in Odisha, while also giving a boost to movies that showcase the state’s culture and landscapes.
