Popular Odia singer and independent music artist Mrinmay MS, who has been steadily carving a niche for himself in the regional music scene, is all set to make his acting debut with the upcoming Odia horror film Kundali.
The film’s mahurat ceremony was organised recently, marking the formal launch of the project, with shooting expected to begin soon.Produced by Bijayalakshmi Nayak and directed by Rohanjeet Das, Kundali is being jointly produced under the banners of Thunderpixel Films and Amara Music.
Mrinmay, who began his career by uploading songs written and composed by himself on social media, has built a strong fan base through his growing body of work. Some of his popular tracks include Chokha Toka, Kasaw, Farada, Gotie Jaga, Ratha Jae Gadi Gadi, Sundara, Mo Ghara Gali, and Ghun Ghun Ratha Chaka Ghun Ghun, all of which have received a positive response across digital platforms.
Speaking about his transition from music to acting, Mrinmay revealed that the makers of Kundali noticed him through his music videos and vlogs, which eventually led to his casting in the film.
“I have done several voice-over projects earlier, so acting was always on my mind. Doing full-fledged acting in a film is exciting and challenging at the same time,” he said.
The cast of Kundali features Mrinmay MS alongside Jyoti Nayak, Ananya Das, and Jasmine in key roles.

Mrinmay’s musical journey began with cover versions on Instagram before he evolved into a full-fledged independent artist, writing and composing his own music. He cites Bollywood actor-singers Ayushmann Khurrana and Diljit Dosanjh as his major inspirations.
Coming from a family of singers, Mrinmay said he received constant encouragement from his family members, many of whom have also worked in the music industry. “They may not have achieved massive success, but their support and belief in me gave me the confidence to continue,” he added.
In addition to making his acting debut, Mrinmay will also compose the music for Kundali.
With music and cinema now firmly in his sights, the young artist holds a clear ambition. “My dream is to bring Odisha into national attention through my music and creative work,” he said.
As Kundali moves into production, audiences will be keen to see how the rising musical talent translates his artistic expression to the silver screen.
