Odia Film ‘Pade Akasha’ Showcased at Lok Seva Bhavan, Highlights Journey of Struggle and Success

Bhubaneswar: An inspiring Odia feature film carrying a strong message of empowerment for persons with disabilities, ‘Pade Akasha’, was specially screened at the Convention Centre of Lok Seva Bhavan recently.

The special screening was organised by the State Department of Social Security and Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (SSEPD) on the advice of the Chief Secretary. The initiative aimed to promote awareness and sensitivity towards the challenges and achievements of persons with disabilities.


Produced by Tarang Cine Productions and directed by noted filmmaker Sushant Mani, Pade Akasha is based on the inspiring life journey of Dr Shruti Mahapatra, a Nari Shakti Puraskar awardee and founder of the organisation Swabhiman. The film powerfully portrays how determination, resilience and strong willpower can help overcome physical and social barriers to achieve success in life. Actress Archita Sahu played the role of Shruti Mohapatra in the movie.

During the event, Commissioner-cum-Secretary of the department R. Santhagopalan felicitated Dr Shruti Mahapatra and Tarang Cine Productions’ Chief Executive Producer Debidutta Mahanty for their significant contributions. Senior officials from various departments of the State Secretariat attended the screening and lauded the film for its impactful storytelling and socially relevant message, noting that it would inspire society at large.

The programme was supported by Financial Advisor and Special Secretary Jayashree Tripathy, Additional Secretary Deepak Rautaray, Bhaskar Raita and Sonia Behera, among others, who played key roles in the smooth conduct of the event.
Officials expressed hope that Pade Akasha would serve as a catalyst for positive change by fostering greater inclusivity and respect for persons with disabilities across society.
