Odia Film ‘Ganda Bhairav’ Officially Selected for SVIFF 2026

Bhubaneswar: Odia film ‘Ganda Bhairav’ has achieved another milestone by being officially selected for the Swami Vivekananda International Film Festival & Awards (SVIFF) 2026.

The selection has brought cheer to the film’s cast and crew as well as the Odia film industry, with the makers describing it as a proud moment for Odia cinema. Sharing the achievement, the team said, “From Odisha to the world,” expressing gratitude to audiences for their love and support.

The film’s selection at the international festival comes after its successful theatrical journey. Ganda Bhairav recently completed 30 days in theatres, with the makers celebrating the milestone by cutting a cake in the presence of the film’s stars, producer and other members of the team.

The film, presented by RR Events and produced by Ramesh Barik, is directed by Sudhanshu Mohan Sahu. It is based on a novel by noted Odia writer Shankar Tripathy and revolves around the struggles, sacrifice, devotion, love and unwavering faith of an Abadha carrier associated with the Shree Jagannath Temple in Puri.

Set against the backdrop of Lord Jagannath’s profound spiritual influence, Ganda Bhairav brings together themes of faith, emotion and Odia cultural identity.

The film features Debashish Patra, Shibani Sangeeta, Ananya Mishra, K.K. Choudhury, Bikash Das, Soma Bhowmik, Prithwiraj, Nitya Nana, Santu Nije and Shambhu Khuntia in key roles.

The music has been composed by Gaurav Anand, while the songs have been rendered by Human Sagar, Satyajit, Lipsa Mahapatra and Rupak.

With its official selection at SVIFF 2026, the makers hope Ganda Bhairav will take an authentic Odia story and its cultural ethos to a wider audience beyond Odisha.
The team expressed its gratitude to viewers for their continued support and signed off with “Jai Jagannath.”
