Odia diaspora in London gives all love to Phalguni Chaitra

After making a mark in countries like Australia, the USA, the Netherlands, Odia movie Phalguna Chaitra also made its mark in England.

The movie, directed by Sisir Kumar Sahu and Peenaki Singh Rajput and starring Partha Sarthi Ray, BM Baisali, Ananya Mishra, among others was released in England on June 10.

A large number of Odia family in London went to the cinema hall to watch the movie. Sharing the news, the movie’s lead actor Partha Sarthi Ray requested that Odia families celebrate this Raja with the Slice of Life Humane Story from Odisha. “Please inform your friends and relatives in UK,” he said.

The film was released on May 12 in cinema halls across the state. The movie represents the period of ‘Phalguna Chaitra’ month per Hindu calendar, which corresponds with February/March in the Gregorian calendar,” shares director Sisir Kumar Sahu.

The movie was earlier premiered in Australia and the Netherlands too. The director duo of Sisir Kumar Sahu and Peenaki Singh Rajput, known for visual storytelling and unique cinematography, shot the film in Koraput, Nabarangpur, and Jeypore districts in about 25 days during the rainy season.

The star cast includes Choudhary Jayprakash Das, Partha Sarathi Ray, BM Baisali, Ananya Mishra, Sukant Rath, Pranab Prasanna Rath, Manisha Manjari Mishra, Kailash Panigrahi, Bhaswati Basu, and Chandan Biswal. While Sakti Jagdev is the producer,. The story was written by Dr. Sulagna Mohanty.

Talking about the movie, actor Partha Sarathi Ray says, “It is a romantic family drama with deep family bonding. Odia films nowadays rely on heavy VFX, action, comedy, and sci-fi. The core values of a typical Odia family are something we all miss today.”

He further said, “Phalguna Chaitra will portray the sacrifice of every family member or our loved ones who stand strong and support each other despite several sufferings. It is a family story narrated in a beautifully poetic way.”

Director duo Sahu and Rajput have tried to maintain authenticity and freshness in the narrative and have showcased typical Odia culture, which people in every household would relate to, such as spending time with grandparents during vacations and sitting together with the whole family while eating together.
