Bhubaneswar: Actor Satya Ranjan of Odisha won best actor award for his work in the movie In the Name of Fire directed by Abhilash Sharma which is is set in the rural east Indian state of Bihar and focuses on a struggling mother and child and how their religion impacts their existence.
Satya Ranjan won Asian New Talent’s best actor prize in Shanghai Film Festival for his role as a beleaguered father in the film while director won best director award. The film is a Magahi language movie also starred Odisha’s Sonalli Sharmisstha in lead role.
Satya said it’s a film about life and hope where three characters are traveling throughout the story.
In his long career Satya has worked in many movies including Sonchiriya, Dhoomketu, Daawat-E-Ishq, Airlift, The Legend Of Michel Mishra and Bengali movie Alifa, which has won national award, among others.
Satya Ranjan from Bhadrak had started his career in 2010. He was also seen recently in Odia movie Suka Bhai Ra Sholay directed by Snehasis Das and web series The Jengaburu Curse by Nila Madhab Panda.
