Odia Actor Bhupindaraa Set to Make Bollywood Directorial Debut with ‘Lohitaksha’

Bhubaneswar: Odia actor Bhupindaraa is set to make his directorial debut in Bollywood with Lohitaksha, a crossover film starring Siddhant Issar and Apsara Rani. The filmmaker has described the project as the first Hindi-language film based in Odisha and set entirely against an Odia backdrop.

Announcing the team of Lohitaksha, Bhupindaraa expressed pride in directing the two lead actors, praising their screen presence and performances.

Calling the film a major responsibility, the director said the project brings together Hindi-language storytelling and Odisha’s cultural setting, marking an attempt to present an Odia backdrop to a wider national audience.

Bhupindaraa was particularly appreciative of Apsara Rani’s performance, beauty and grace. Drawing comparisons with celebrated actresses Sridevi and Gautami, he said Apsara possesses a distinctive screen presence that sets her apart.

The director also had special praise for Siddhant Issar, son of veteran actor Puneet Issar, acknowledging the legacy he carries while expressing confidence in his performance in the film.

According to Bhupindaraa, Siddhant brings intensity, anguish, anger and power to his scenes, along with a commanding screen presence. He said the young actor had delivered performances that left a strong impression on him.

Expressing pride in both lead actors, Bhupindaraa said further announcements about Lohitaksha would follow soon.

With the film set entirely against an Odia backdrop despite being made in Hindi, Lohitaksha seeks to bring Odisha’s cultural landscape into a Bollywood production. Further details about the film’s release date, storyline and other cast members are awaited.
