Nanpur Mahotsav held to promote art and culture
The festival attracted artisans, dancers, poets, and singers, with the aim of promoting and preserving the art and culture of Nanpur village.
Bhubaneswar: The Nanpur Mahotsav 2025 was organised at the Creative Hands Art Gallery in Nanpur village, Jajpur district, by internationally acclaimed writer and painter Prafulla Mohanti.
Last year, on his 90th birthday, Mohanti transformed his two-storey house into an art gallery, which now houses hundreds of paintings created by him and other artists.
The event witnessed the participation of noted singer Susmita Das, former Ravenshaw University vice-chancellor Devdas Chhotray, eminent painter Ramhari Jena, and several other dignitaries.
A cultural programme was held, featuring rural artwork, literature, folk songs, dance performances, and traditional craftsmanship. The festival attracted artisans, dancers, poets, and singers, with the aim of promoting and preserving the art and culture of Nanpur village, said Mohanti.
A special tribute was paid to Mohanti’s friend, Derek Moore, on his 14th death anniversary, with the inauguration of a statue in his memory.
Also a special movie on Mohanti was screened on the occasion.
