Bhubaneswar: The poster of the upcoming Bollywood murder-mystery film Lohitaksha, produced under the Gana Vikas Films banner, was unveiled and its teaser released recently, marking the directorial debut of Odia filmmaker and actor Bhupindaraa
Based in the Odia film industry for several years, Bhupindaraa has made his debut as a director with a Bollywood film featuring a mix of Bollywood and Ollywood artistes. The film’s screenplay, production and direction have been handled by Bhupindaraa, while the story has been written by Dipali Debasmita Dash.
Bhupindaraa, who began his career as an anchor, later established himself as an actor in music videos and films. He has also produced several Odia films, including Shubha Bibaha and Jagu Auto Wala. With Lohitaksha, he has taken on the responsibility of directing a feature film for the first time.

The film introduces Siddhant, son of veteran Bollywood artiste Puneet Issar, as one of its actors. Bollywood artistes Apsara, Kamlesh Sawant and Sukumar Tudu are also part of the cast. From the Ollywood industry, the film features Bobby Mishra, Bhupinder, Gaurav Mohanty, Dipesh, Jiban Panda, Mohan Majithia, Sushant Das Mahapatra, Dipali, Shruti and Suman Maharana, among others.
Set against the backdrop of a murder mystery, Lohitaksha also carries several social messages. The story is rooted in Cuttack, while the entire film has been shot at different locations across Odisha.
Nishant Majithia has penned the dialogues, while Sarada Krishna Sahu is the cinematographer and Manas Kumar Sahu is the editor.
Music for the film has been directed by the late Abhijit Majumdar. Abhijit Tripathy has composed the theme song of Lohitaksh for the first time, with Nabs and Saroj also contributing to the music. Sanjay Mahakud has served as the executive producer.
Media Planner Creative Head Pranaya Jethi is handling the film’s publicity and promotion.
Speaking about the project, Bhupindaraa said his journey from the Odia film industry to Bollywood had been possible with the blessings of Lord Jagannath and his late parents. He said Lohitaksh was an effort to take stories and talent from Odisha to a wider audience.
The project also seeks to create opportunities for more Odia artistes to find a place in the Hindi film industry. With an Odisha-based story and an ensemble cast drawn from both Bollywood and Ollywood, Lohitaksha seeks to establish a connection between the two industries.
The film’s poster and teaser have now set the stage for its release, with the makers expressing hope that the project will receive appreciation from audiences across the country.
