Bhubaneswar: The cast and crew of Odia film Maliput Melodies returned to Bhubaneswar on Sunday, greeted with warm applause and admiration after the film’s acclaimed screenings at the 56th International Film Festival of India (IFFI), Goa.

The anthology, which was the only Odia feature selected for the Indian Panorama, captivated audiences with its heartfelt portrayal of rural Odisha — from village musicians chasing their dreams to families navigating everyday struggles. Critics and festival-goers praised the film for its authentic storytelling, lyrical visuals, and celebration of Odisha’s culture.

Director Vishal Patnaik, who captured the poetry of rural life with a painter’s eye, expressed his gratitude: “Representing Odisha on a national platform has been an unforgettable experience. The appreciation we received motivates us to continue telling stories rooted in our culture.”

Producer Kaushik Das of Kaustav DreamWorks Studios highlighted the significance of the festival journey. “This recognition is a milestone for Odia cinema. It shows that our regional stories resonate beyond state borders.”

Fans, well-wishers, and film enthusiasts welcomed the team at the airport, making the homecoming a jubilant celebration of Odisha’s growing presence in national cinema.

Maliput Melodies’ journey from the villages of Odisha to the glittering screens of Goa is a testament to the evolving landscape of regional cinema, where authentic stories now command attention on the national stage.
