Iconic India International Open Gateball Tournament 2025 Announced

Bhubaneswar: The Iconic Sports Federation, in collaboration with the Indian Gateball Union, has announced that the Iconic India International Open Gateball Tournament (IIIOGT) 2025 will be held from November 30 to December 1, 2025, at the world-class Kalinga Stadium in Bhubaneswar.

The prestigious global tournament will feature participation from four international teams — Japan, Thailand, Indonesia, and Taiwan — along with teams from 18 Indian states. More than 400 players, officials, and distinguished delegates will be part of the event, competing in both Classic and Doubles categories.

The Iconic Sports Federation has appointed Tarini Prasad Mahanty, Chairman and Managing Director of Naibuga Iron & Manganese Mines, Keonjhar, as Chairman of the Organising Committee, while Umakanta Jena has been named Executive Secretary. The appointments acknowledge their significant contribution to sports development in Odisha.

The announcement event saw the presence of several dignitaries including
Tarini Prasad Mahanty – Chairman, IIIOGT;
Dr. Chidatmika Khatua – Director, ISF;
Dipayan Pattanaik – Director, Asia Pacific Gateball Union; Dr. Umakanta Pani – President, IGU; Dr. Sanjay Choudhury, Dr. Sheikh Abdul Samim, and Sanjay Das, State Secretary, ISF.

The organisers highlighted that the event is being supported by the Government of Odisha and several reputed institutions. They extended an open invitation to sports lovers to witness and enjoy the tournament.

Gateball is known as a strategic team sport, helping players enhance concentration, planning and mental agility. The Iconic Sports Federation is responsible for promoting and expanding the sport across India.
Speaking at the event, Dr. Sanjay Choudhury explained the plans to develop and spread the sport across various regions of Odisha.

The torch-lighting ceremony was conducted by Manas Ranjan Mahanty, while Sarat Kumar Patra delivered the vote of thanks.

The Federation stated that the IIIOGT 2025 will not only strengthen India’s presence in the international gateball arena but will also be a milestone sporting event for Odisha.
