I want to tell more original stories through films: Sanlisa Patel

Fashion designer-turned-movie producer Sanlisa Patel believes a dream doesn’t come true through magic. As per her views, it could be made into a reality through a painstaking, arduous journey of self-determination and focus.

After making her mark in the fashion sector with her her brand name ‘Sketch by Sanlisa’, she has now all set for another voyage. She is now all set to jump onto the bandwagon of reel life. To make her mark in the movie industry, she has decided to become a producer. She will soon be seen producing her maiden movie under her production house ‘Sanlisa Signature Films’. The film is named ‘Pratha’. It stars Swaraj Barik, Sheetal Patra and Simran Kaur.

The trailer showcases the story set in the Lalaguda area in Koraput. It revolves around the character of Swaraj. Swaraj is playing a character of Potharaju, a nomadic tribe known for wearing turmeric on the body and vermilion on their forehead. These tribesmen were often seen in the film hitting themselves with a whip in order to entertain the people and earn their livelihood through this.

The film showcases the story of an orthodox village in Odisha where following traditional culture is often sacrosanct. The reel life depicts how these age-old practices define the movie’s main characters. Pratha features actor Swaraj Barik, Sheetal Patra and Simran Kaur in lead roles. The movie is directed by K Murali Krishna and produced by Sanlisa Patel.

The movie will be released this Ganesh Puja on September 15 in multiple languages Odia, Hindi and Punjabi.

Talking about becoming a producer with this movie Sanlisa said, “The story attracted me a lot because it’s a story of a small family and that touched me a lot because I also come from a small place in Jharsuguda.”

Born and brought up in Odisha and currently staying in Delhi, Sanlisa is a fashion designer and has been tastefully designing & crafting menswear collections. The craftsmanship of tailoring is the signature of Sanlisa Designers. The tailoring process at Sketch combines traditional methods with a modern approach. Each outfit is customized with utmost attention to provide the wearer with perfectly crafted clothing on his body.

She is also a beauty pageant winner of Mrs Delhi NCR. She has taken part in several fashion shows and her designs have been worn by Bollywood celebrities such as Govinda, Rajneesh Duggal, Sana Khan etc.

Sanlisa said this movie stars talents of Odia Hindi and Punjabi industry and will be liked by the audience. She said that her work as a fashion designer helped her bring good actors for this movie, such as Simran Kaur who is known for giving voice to the cartoon character Nobita in the famous cartoon show Doremon.

About future work, she said that her next movie will be based on coal mines in the state. She said Odisha has a lot of great stories to tell. She said that she would try to bring in more original and good stories for the movie livers through her production.

She also has new design plans for her fashion line. She also said that her family, including her husband, has supported her a lot in her career and played a big part in her success.
