Actor Hara Rath, known for his lead and character roles in movies and web series such as Ardha Satya, Drustikona, Zwigato, The Jengabaru Curse, Gangs of Puri and others is ready with another movie Vote.
Vote is a story about politics around voting during elections.
Talking to Odia Celebrity, Rath said the story is based on a popular play by Ajay Mohapatra. This was turned into movie by director Debasish Mohapatra. The movie is prominent for local cinema. This reel story talks about election season and how political parties manipulate voters. It showcases real life situations.
“It is not a propaganda movie and do not promote any particular leader or party.
Rath said that the movie was prepared and ready for years but was not getting any producer, finally the Ritu Priya Productions decided to produce it and release it . The movie will release on Feb 23 in cinema halls,” he said.
About his character, Rath said, ” I am playing the role of a character of a villager. He wants to be a political leader and can do anything for it. On its path, he takes steps which affect him in some way.”
Rath, who started his career with 2005’s movie Priya Mo Priya, when asked about his career, said, “ I don’t have any godfather in the industry. I started from one line role to lead and characters roles. I also did stage plays which helped me in shining my craft I also worked as makeup man, production manager, assistant director etc. At present I am not working in any movie. My last movie was Prithvi Raj Patnaik’s directed Malyagiri.”
He also added, “I don’t believe in doing any kind of role. I want to do good roles. And if I need to wait for that for a bit long, I am okay with it. I am lucky to work with national level directors such as Nandita Das in Zwigato and Nila Madhab Panda in The Jengabaru Curse.”
About the industry, Rath said, “The industry must understand that story is foremost and we have several literature which can be made into good movies. Instead of that treasures, we are trying to make movies by copying big budget south movies in low budget. These don’t give good results and makes audience go away. The state government should also try to take steps in increasing cinema halls in the state for more screens for Odia movies release.”
About future Hara said ”I have plans to direct a movie in future”
