Historic International Film Preservation Workshop to be Held in Bhubaneswar

Bhubaneswar – The Film Heritage Foundation (FHF), in association with the International Federation of Film Archives (FIAF) and in partnership with the State Government of Odisha, will host the 10th edition of its flagship training programme, the Film Preservation & Restoration Workshop India (FPRWI 2025), from November 12-19, 2025, at the Kalabhoomi Odisha Crafts Museum, Bhubaneswar.
A press conference was held on Monday at the Press Club of Odisha, where FHF Director Shivendra Singh Dungarpur addressed the media and shared details about the upcoming event.
The opening ceremony on November 12 will see Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi as the Chief Guest, with legendary actress Waheeda Rehman gracing the occasion as the Guest of Honour. During the ceremony, the Foundation will present the Champions of Film Heritage Award to eminent film scholar Sanjoy Patnaik and Surya Deo, Founder Secretary of the Film Journalists’ Forum, for their significant contributions to preserving India’s cinematic legacy.
The week-long workshop, a collaborative initiative supported by the Handlooms, Textiles & Handicrafts Department, Department of Tourism, Govt. of Odisha, Adobe Inc., The Film Foundation’s World Cinema Project, TATA Trusts, Istituto Italiano di Cultura New Delhi, Kodak, and Rasa Jaipur, will offer advanced training in film preservation and restoration to professionals, scholars, and enthusiasts from across the country and abroad.
The closing certification ceremony on November 19 will be presided over by Deputy Chief Minister Shri Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo, marking the culmination of this international knowledge-sharing programme.
The FPRWI has become a landmark initiative in India’s film preservation landscape, and this 10th edition in Bhubaneswar promises to be a historic convergence of global expertise, celebrating and safeguarding India’s rich cinematic heritage.
