Bhubaneswar: Hindi film Patang, which has garnered good reviews at several film festivals, will hit the theatres across the state September 13, shared the makers at a press meet held recently in Bhubaneswar.
Significantly, the movie is set in Steel City, Rourkela, and its cast is primarily composed of local talents.
Written and directed by Madhab Chandra Parida, the movie is based on the struggles of 13 poor orphans who beg alms for a living and eventually become victims of drug addiction.
Producer Vibhuti Kumar Gupta, actors Nirakar Padhi, Ranjeet Boss, and Prashant Maharana, and other members of the team
were present at the press meet.
“The film carries a message about the helpless children in our society,” Gupta said and added that they have approached the state government, requesting concessions on ticket prices for school and slum chil- dren to watch the movie.
For the uninitiated. Patang was screened and honoured at the International Film Festival in Khajuraho and Nirmal Pandey Film Festival and set to screen at Kolkata International Film Festival.
Anup Sinha has scored the music, while Vibhuti Gupta and Prabeen Kumar have penned the lyrics. Alok Kumar, Chhotu Rawat, and Indu Sonali have lent their voices to the songs.
