Popular bollywood Filmmaker and creator of the hit web show Scam 1992 Hansal Mehta posted on popular microblogging site while responding to a film trade analyst. Allegedly, the analyst had criticised Anubhav Sinha’s upcoming film, Bheed. The film focuses on classism with events of the workers’ migration during the 2020 lockdown and equates it to the India & Pakistan Partition of 1947. Bheed features Rajkummar Rao and Bhumi Pednekar in lead roles.
After Bheed makers dropped a teaser video, Sumit Kadel had tweeted, “So #Bheed compares Covid Lockdown in India with Partition of 1947 … Absolutely RIDICULOUS.. Wondering why our prominent production house & actors becomes part of #AnubhavSinha personal propaganda which leads to people’s hate for the industry. Because of such attempts, entire industry face wrath of common public…This provides wings to boycott & cancel culture. Sorry I don’t support this,” he added.
Meanwhile, Hansal came out in support of the film and commented, “So you’ve seen the film I suppose.” These words were sufficient to understand that unlike many others, Hansal stood for his contemporary Anubhav in times of strict competition among peers in the industry. Lets wait and watch how audiences react to Bheed.
