In a career that started in 2015 with a titular role in TV serial Jai Maa Laxmi in Tarang Divya debuted opposite Babushaan in Sundargarh ra Salman Khan in 2018 and since then, has done a variety of roles, from Playing a lesbian character in Chumbak to playing a role of mother in Dho Re Babu Dho, Divya believes in playing a variety of roles.
She will be seen next in Jhilik Motion Pictures Movie Priye TU Mo Siye, where she will be seen in the title track opposite Amlan. Her next big project is Bhai, where we will see her in a different avatar.
Talking to Odia Celebrity Divya said that she identified herself first as an artist than a heroine because if you identify as a heroine, then people assume you are in a particular type of role and always in a glamour look.
She said that her role in Dho re Babu Dho played the role of mother when she was 20! Years old, which was challenging but she accepted and now it was a very important role in my career.
Divya, a trained Odissi dancer, didn’t have any interest in acting in the beginning. In 2015 when she was in Class X, her mother persuaded her to give audition for the TV serial Jai Maa Laxmi. She said that she was a very shy person from the beginning. She said that her audition was not that great, but the makers saw something in her, and thus, a journey began in the entertainment industry.
Divya said that as an artist, she is ready for any role until she is comfortable. About the dance number in Priye TU Mo Siye she said that many actress before me has done the dance number in the movie, so it was a good experience for her.
About working with Amlan she said that this will be the second time she will work with Amlan. She is also working with Amlan
in Bhai. It was a great experience, she said.
About her upcoming movie, she said that her next movie Bhai is a story of a brother-sister and has a lot of action in it. People will love the movie, she hopes.
Divya said that she wants to do more original and good roles and work with people who want to showcase original stories. She believes that Regional movies like Odia have a lot of potential, and if we showcase Odia relevant stories, we can prosper.
