Curtains Rise on 6th Nirmal Pandey Smriti Film Festival in Cuttack

Cuttack: The Silver City turned into a hub of cinematic celebration today as the 6th Nirmal Pandey Smriti Film Festival 2025 opened to a star-studded gathering. The festival began with a warm tribute to the late actor Nirmal Pandey, remembered for his powerful performances and unique artistic vision.

The red-carpet guest list featured some of the most respected names in Indian cinema and performing arts — former BPFTIO Director & legendary cameraman Surendra Sahu, Bollywood production designer Sanjay Batra, actors Mahendra Singh Raghuvanshi and Shrimati Rekha Rohitashv Goir (Vice President, All India Artists Association, Shimla), Kaushik Das (Founder & CEO, Aao Nxt), Subraranjan Rai (Director, BPFTIO), actress Pinky Pradhan, music director Amod Krishna Bhatt, singer Subhashree Bhatt, and filmmakers Debi Prasad Lenka and Vishal Morya.

The day’s screenings included BPFTIO degree films Astha re Dhara, Kalchakra, Block, and Maruchika — each earning accolades and awards. A special lineup of short films — Nirvaak, Ummeed, My Mother My World, Joggers Park, and Dipstick — added variety to the cinematic fare. The Odia feature Daman drew special attention from the audience.

A highlight of the evening was a soulful musical tribute to Nirmal Pandey by Amod Krishna Bhatt and Subhashree Bhatt, filling the hall with emotion and applause.

The festival will continue in Cuttack with more screenings, celebrity interactions, and cultural events, reaffirming its place as one of Odisha’s most anticipated film celebrations.
