Bara Badhu Honoured at Indian Film Festival in Russia

Bhubaneswar: In a proud moment for the Odia film industry, Bara Badhu has been honoured at the Indian Film Festival in Russia 2026, marking another major achievement for the film after its successful theatrical run in Odisha.

Expressing gratitude over the recognition, the makers thanked the Ministry of External Affairs and Embassy of India, Moscow for showcasing and honouring the film at the international festival platform.

The stars of the movie Sailendra Samantaray an Sivani Sangita and others attended the film festival in Russia.

The makers stated that the recognition is a “significant milestone” for the entire team and reflects the growing global presence of regional Indian cinema, particularly Odia films, on prestigious international stages.

Released on February 13, Bara Badhu emerged as one of the notable Odia theatrical successes of the year. The film completed more than 50 days in theatres and reportedly collected around Rs 1.75 crore during its successful box-office run.

The film had also received support from several prominent personalities from the Odia film fraternity. Earlier, Odia superstar Babushaan Mohanty watched the movie along with his family at a special screening attended by veteran actor Aparajita Mohanty and producer T. S. Satpathy.

Directed and produced by Beeswaranjan Chandra Mani, the film revolves around themes of love, family values, traditions, and emotions rooted in Odia culture.
The movie features Subhasis Sharma, Sailendra Samantaray, Suryamayee Mohapatra, Sivani Sangita, Jayshree Sarangi, and Hara Rath in prominent roles. It is produced under the banner of The Useful Garbage Creations in association with Country Boyz Studios and Sharpline Film Pvt. Ltd.

The international recognition at the Indian Film Festival in Russia is being seen as a major boost for Odia cinema and a testament to the increasing appreciation for regional storytelling beyond Indian borders.
