Ayan Mukerji to direct War 2 with Karan Johar’s consent and approval

Recently, Bollywood gossip was abuzz that Sidharth Anand who gave the blockbuster Pathaan and initially directed Hrithik & Tiger starrer War will not be directing War 2.

Anand was the natural helmer of the War sequel. But, reportedly, Sid got busy with Pathaan, and Pathaan took more than three years to complete.

Sid is now busy with Fighter (featuring Hrithik Roshan and Deepika Padukone).

Now, Aditya Chopra wants to start the sequel to War the soonest, so it was Aditya Chopra’s close friend Karan Johar who suggested that Ayan Mukerji helm War 2.

“Ayan is a pure Dharma boy. He has so far directed films only for Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions. Karan has no qualms about Ayan directing a Yash Raj film. To Karan, Adi is a brother. Although Ayan has Brahmastra 2 and 3 to direct for Karan, Karan volunteered to lease Ayan’s directorial skills for War 2,” a source very close to the development informs.
