Bhubaneswar: Continuing its remarkable run, Odia feature film “Murabi” has completed more than 60 days in theatres, emerging as one of the most successful and talked-about Odia films of the year. Adding to its achievements, the family drama has secured an impressive 9.5 rating on IMDb, reflecting strong audience appreciation for its story and performances.

Celebrating the milestone, the makers credited the film’s success to the unwavering support of viewers across Odisha.

Released in cinema halls across Odisha on April 14, “Murabi” has sustained audience interest for over two months through positive word-of-mouth and its emotionally engaging narrative. The film’s success has been seen as a significant achievement for the Odia film industry, demonstrating the audience’s growing support for content-driven regional cinema.

Produced under the banner of Mentis Films, “Murabi” revolves around the role of a family patriarch who serves as the guiding force of a household. The story explores the contrasting approaches of two family heads—one who believes in strict discipline and authority, and another who values affection, understanding, and freedom.

Through their differing philosophies, the film presents a heartfelt exploration of family relationships, traditions, and changing social values.

The film is produced by National Award winners Bishal Mourya and Debiprasad Lenka, with Sumanta Bairagi and Agnimitra Behera serving as co-producers. It is the first feature film produced under the Mentis Films banner.

Directed by Peenakee Singh and Sisir Kumar Sahu, the film features screenplay, dialogues, and lyrics by P. Santosh, while the music has been composed by Agnimitra Behera.
The ensemble cast includes Kuna Tripathy, Jayaprakash Das, Bijayini Mishra, Ankita Mahanti, B.M. Vaishali, Udit Guru, and Prasenjit, whose performances have been widely appreciated by audiences and critics alike.

Prior to its theatrical release, the film’s trailer was launched at the Biju Pattnaik Film and Television Institute of Odisha in the presence of Odisha Industries, Skill Development and Technical Education Minister Sampad Chandra Swain. A special premiere was also held at Shreya Swati Cinema Hall, where the cast and crew interacted with fans ahead of the film’s release.

With more than 60 days in theatres, a strong IMDb rating, and sustained audience support, “Murabi” continues to strengthen its position as one of the standout success stories in contemporary Odia cinema.
