Bhubaneswar: Actor Sailendra Samantaray has expressed heartfelt gratitude to audiences following the release of Bara Badhu, which hit cinema halls across Odisha on February 13.
The film, directed by Beeswaranjan and produced by Bihar-born advertisement filmmaker-turned-producer Chandra Mani, has been released in more than 50 cinema halls across the state. It is also screening outside Odisha in cities such as Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Mumbai and Pune.
Taking to social media, Samantaray thanked viewers for their overwhelming support.
“A massive thanks to everyone who bought tickets and came to the theatres to watch Bara Badhu. Because of you, our family is growing stronger every single day. Let’s keep the love pouring in — 1 lakh footfall very soon!” he wrote.
Bara Badhu explores socially relevant themes of marriage and employment, striking a chord with audiences through a story said to be inspired by real-life events. Producer Chandra Mani, who has decades of experience in the advertising industry, had earlier said he was drawn to the project after director Beeswaranjan narrated the real-life-based story to him.
Mani has also emphasized the need for the Odia film industry to focus on original storytelling over remakes, stating that audiences today value authenticity and strong narratives.
The film features an ensemble cast including Sailendra Samantaray, Sivani Sangita, Subhasis Sharma, Jayashree Sarangi, Hara Rath, Suryamayee Mohapatra, Suvendu Das and Bhaswati Basu.
With encouraging audience turnout in its opening days, the makers are optimistic that Bara Badhu will continue to gain momentum in the coming weeks.
