Odia Film ‘Kankana’ Gets New Release Date, to Hit Theatres on November 20

Bhubaneswar: The much-awaited Odia horror film KANKANA, which was earlier postponed due to post-production work, is now scheduled to hit theatres on November 20, 2026, the makers have announced.

The film was earlier slated for release on September 18, but the makers had deferred its theatrical arrival, citing unforeseen issues and the need to ensure the film was ready to be experienced by audiences as intended.
Directed by Prithvi Raj Patnaik, KANKANA promises a blend of myth, mystery and supernatural horror rooted in Odisha’s folklore.

The film’s promotional campaign has built anticipation through an eerie first-look teaser and character posters that introduced the principal cast in striking avatars.
The film features Supriya Nayak, Ankita Mohanty, Suryamayee Mohapatra and Choudhury Jayaprakash Das in key roles.
The makers have also released Dagaraa Pimpudi, the film’s first single featuring Supriya Nayak.

The song is composed by Somesh Satpathy, sung by Aseema Panda and penned by Ranjan Nayak. It also features Udit Guru and Bhabani Shankar Subudhi.

Produced by Deepak Mahapatra and Bhabani Shankar Subudhi under the banner of DB Motion Picturez, the film is the production house’s maiden venture. Prakash Films will release the movie in theatres.

With the revised release date now announced, the makers will be looking to bring their folklore-inspired horror story to the big screen on November 20.
