Bhubaneswar: Odia film producer Jhilik Bhattacharjee, whose production Lahari won the Best Odia Feature Film award at the 72nd National Film Awards, shared a special moment with Tamil superstar Dhanush, celebrating their shared connection with Indian cinema and the pride of representing their respective regional film industries.
Describing the meeting as a memorable experience, Jhilik said it was particularly special to meet Dhanush and realise that they were both connected through the prestigious National Film Awards.
In a social media post reflecting on the encounter, Jhilik said the moment transcended regional and linguistic differences, bringing together two individuals united by their love for cinema and pride in the country.
“There was no East or South, no boundaries, no differences. There was just one feeling—we are Indians, united by our love for cinema and our pride in our country,” she wrote.
She also highlighted the pride of representing their respective states and bringing national recognition to their regional film industries. Describing the encounter as more than just a memorable meeting, Jhilik said such moments reaffirm the unity and diversity that make India special. She concluded her message with “Jai Jagannath”.
Dhanush, one of Tamil cinema’s prominent actors and filmmakers, has received multiple National Film Awards during his career. At the 72nd National Film Awards, his film Raayan received the award for Best Tamil Film, while Captain Miller received a Special Mention for Dhanush in the acting category.
Jhilik’s Lahari, directed by Amartya Bhattacharyya and produced by Jhilik Motion Pictures, earned national recognition for Odia cinema. The film explores the lives of a fisherman and a boatman against the backdrop of tourism, urbanisation and the changing coastal landscape.
