‘Dahaan – The Evil Within’ Teaser to Drop Tomorrow
The Ganesh Puja release promises an immersive big-screen horror experience as the makers tease, "Some doors should never be opened."
Bhubaneswar: The makers of Dahaan – The Evil Within have announced that the official teaser of the much-awaited Odia horror film will be released on August 1, intensifying excitement ahead of its worldwide theatrical release on September 11, 2026, during the Ganesh Puja festive season.
Sharing the announcement on social media, the team teased audiences with the ominous line, “Some doors should never be opened…” followed by the message, “The horror takes over tomorrow. The official teaser of DAHAAN – The Evil Within drops tomorrow. Are you brave enough to confront what’s inside?” The post has further heightened curiosity about what the film has in store for horror fans.
Written and directed by Anupam Patnaik, Dahaan – The Evil Within is produced by Barsha Patnaik and Anupam Patnaik. The film marks Anupam’s long-cherished return to the horror genre after earlier entertaining audiences with the horror-comedy Mantra Muugdha.
The film stars Barsha Patnaik alongside Aurosikha Mishra, Sijan Mohapatra, Partha Sarathi Ray, Choudhury JayPrakash Das, Nishant Majithia, Pranab Prasanna Rath, Navya Jaiti, Prasanjeet Mohapatra, Mohan Majithia, Debadutta Nanda and Amitabh Patra.
Dahaan is a passion project for Anupam Patnaik, whose filmmaking journey began with the television horror series Horror Zone in 2013. He has previously said that his love for horror was inspired by watching horror films with his father and that bringing a horror feature to the big screen had been a long-standing dream.
The film has also attracted attention for becoming the first feature film to be shot at the historic Killa Dalijoda, the nearly century-old former royal hunting lodge in Odisha. The cast and crew spent over a month filming at the heritage palace, whose imposing architecture and eerie ambience are expected to enhance the film’s supernatural setting.
Backed by music from Ashish Pradhan, sound design by Shakti Swaroop Dwibedy, editing by Rashmi Ranjan Dash and cinematography by Deepak Kumar, Dahaan – The Evil Within promises a technically polished horror experience. With the teaser set to drop tomorrow, audiences will get their first extended look at what the makers describe as a terrifying journey into fear, mystery and the unknown before the film arrives in cinemas on September 11.
