Child Theatre Workshop Concludes in Keonjhar’s Deogaon; Play “Mo Saanga” Staged

Keonjhar: A month-long child theatre workshop concluded successfully at Deogaon in Keonjhar district on Tuesday with a vibrant cultural programme and the staging of a play titled “Mo Saanga” (My Friend).

The valedictory ceremony was attended by Ananta Nayak as the chief guest, while noted actor Samaresh Rautray joined as the guest of honour. Among other dignitaries present on the dais were Prakash Kumar Panda, Headmaster of PM SHRI Kushaleswar Government High School, and Trilochan Das, President of the Sainik Sangha.

The programme was presided over by Pradeep Kumar Mohanty, Registrar of the National School of Drama (NSD).

Speaking on the occasion, MP Ananta Nayak lauded the Ministry of Culture and NSD for organising a high-quality theatre workshop in a place like Keonjhar. He described the initiative as a commendable effort towards promoting theatre and nurturing young talent in the region.

Actor Samaresh Rautray, in his address, highlighted the important role of theatre in building a healthy, progressive and ideal society. He emphasized that dramatic arts not only entertain but also help shape values and social awareness among young minds.

Following the formal session, children who participated in the workshop presented the play “Mo Saanga.” The performance captivated the audience with its lively acting, confidence and polished stagecraft.

The young performers received enthusiastic applause from spectators, many of whom were deeply moved by the children’s natural talent and expressive performances.
The workshop, conducted over the past month, aimed to introduce children to the fundamentals of theatre and provide them with a platform to develop their creative and artistic abilities. The successful staging of “Mo Saanga” marked a fitting culmination of the training programme.
