Bhubaneswar: The much-awaited second shooting schedule of Landfall, one of Odisha’s most ambitious and high-budget cinematic ventures, is set to begin this month, raising excitement among film lovers and the Odia film industry alike.
Starring acclaimed actor Sabyasachi Mishra alongside Divyasnata Mohanty, Landfall brings together an accomplished creative team led by visionary producer Prabhat Kumar Pradhan, cinematographer Pratap Rout, art director Ajay Sutar, set designers Vijay and Hari Pokal, and writer-director duo Debi Prasad Lenka and Vishal Mourya.
The team is currently engaged in location visits and final preparations as they gear up for the upcoming schedule of the film, which seeks to portray Odisha’s indomitable spirit through a powerful and emotionally charged narrative.
After years of anticipation, cameras first rolled on Landfall, marking the beginning of what many believe could become a defining milestone in Odia cinema. National Award-winning directors Debi Prasad Lenka and Vishal Mourya, the creative force behind the widely acclaimed Daman, have spent nearly three years in extensive pre-production to bring the project to life.
From crafting an impactful screenplay to designing large-scale sets and planning sophisticated animation and visual effects, the filmmakers have left no stone unturned. Backed by a reported ₹10 crore budget, Landfall is poised to be among the most expensive films ever produced in Odisha. The film is being made simultaneously in Odia and Hindi, aiming to reach audiences beyond regional boundaries.
The film’s title, logo, and poster were unveiled earlier at a star-studded event in Bhubaneswar, generating considerable buzz among fans and industry insiders.
Deeply rooted in Odisha’s lived experiences, Landfall draws inspiration from the devastating impact of cyclones that have shaped generations across the state. The film intends to capture themes of pain, resilience, courage, and hope through compelling storytelling, striking visuals, and intense performances.
Known for championing original Odia narratives, Sabyasachi Mishra is expected to bring depth and authenticity to his role, adding further weight to the highly anticipated project.
Speaking about the progress of the film, director Debi Prasad Lenka expressed gratitude for the unwavering support and encouragement from audiences.
“The second schedule of Landfall begins this month. We are all on set visits and preparing for the shoot. This is a powerful story celebrating Odisha’s unbreakable spirit. Thank you for your constant love and support. More updates will follow soon,” he said.
As production gathers momentum, anticipation continues to build around Landfall, with cast and crew hoping the film will resonate deeply with audiences and carve out a historic place in the evolution of Odia cinema.
