Bhubaneswar: A new Odia film titled Bideha is gearing up for theatrical release, promising audiences a thought-provoking and emotionally layered cinematic experience. Produced under the banner of Twentyfour January Production, the film delves into themes of identity, desire, emotional conflict and the complexities of contemporary womanhood.
Produced by Biyot Projna Tripathy, who has also handled the story, screenplay and direction, Bideha is positioned as a sensitive and intense drama. Vedayana Tripathy serves as the executive producer.
The film revolves around a woman from a wealthy family living in Bhubaneswar and her three close companions. Set against the backdrop of modern urban life, the story explores their emotional struggles, inner conflicts and search for personal identity. It reflects how love can become a source of comfort for some, while breaking others from within.
At the heart of the narrative is the lead character Iti, whose journey questions the boundaries between soul, body and desire. Through her story, the film captures hidden emotions, restlessness, longing for freedom, unfulfilled aspirations and the harsh truths of life and nature.
Bideha also aims to portray the courage, dilemmas and silent battles faced by women in contemporary society, making it a socially relevant and introspective film.
The cast features Kajal Satapathy, Usashi Mishra, Sukanta Ratha, Gaurab Mohanty, Dezy, Elina and Koushik Mohapatra.
The film’s cinematography is by Dhrubananda Panda, while music has been composed by Sarat Nayak. Dialogues and lyrics are penned by Biyot Projna Tripathy and Devdas Chhotray.
With its bold subject and emotional depth, Bideha is expected to add a fresh dimension to contemporary Odia cinema.
