Much-Awaited Odia Film Dandakali Set for Ganesh Puja Release

Bhubaneswar: The much-awaited Odia film Dandakali is all set to hit theatres during Ganesh Puja, with the makers officially announcing the festive release date through a fresh set of striking character posters.

The announcement has heightened excitement among Odia cinema lovers, especially as the film’s shooting has already commenced. Production recently went on floors, marking the beginning of the shooting schedule, which is currently underway in Ganjam district.

Adding to the growing buzz, veteran filmmaker Sudhanshu Mohan Sahu recently shared behind-the-scenes (BTS) photographs from the sets on social media, offering fans an early glimpse into the making of the ambitious project.

The visuals featured key cast members and hinted at a story deeply rooted in Odisha’s traditions and spiritual heritage.
Inspired by the traditional Dandakali practices of Berhampur, the film is expected to present a powerful narrative blending faith, folklore and cultural identity.

The early stills have already generated strong curiosity among cinephiles and audiences alike.

Presented by Rajashree Cine Crafts, Dandakali is produced by Rajashree Ghosh. The story has been penned by Abhisikta Mishra, while the music is composed by noted music director Prem Anand. Lyrics have been written by Dr. Nirmal Nayak and Bapu Goswami.

The film features an impressive ensemble cast led by superstar Sidhant Mohapatra, alongside Mahasweta Ray, Krishna Kar, Suryamayee Mohapatra, Usasi Misra, Jayaprakash Das, Amar Mahapatra, Udit Guru, Elli Padhi, Tripti Mirambika, and theatre artiste Chitrasen, who is being introduced as a lead actor for the first time.
Other prominent actors including Gurudev Maharathi, Pritiranjan, and Nihar Samal also play pivotal roles.

With shooting in full swing and anticipation steadily rising, Dandakali is shaping up to be one of the most culturally significant and eagerly awaited Odia films slated for release this year.
