Bhubaneswar: The much-anticipated Odia movie “SIR” starring Samaresh Routray, Dipanwit Das Mohapatra, Arlin Ankita, and others hit theatres across Odisha on Children’s Day, promising audiences a moving cinematic experience.

The makers had earlier released the film’s official teaser on the Amara Muzik YouTube channel, offering fans a glimpse into the inspiring journey of a teacher whose dedication goes far beyond the classroom.

Directed by Keshab Mallick and produced under Kamal Cine Productions by Dr. Kamal Lochan Sahu, who also penned the story, the film boasts Ajit Das on cinematography, Chandrasekhar Mishra in charge of editing, and soulful music composed by Aarohiajita.

“SIR” follows the life of Agani Mohanty, an idealistic school teacher who believes that “Teacher-ship is not a profession but a service.” Agani’s unwavering dedication drives him to readmit school dropouts, shaping the lives of students like Murali Mohan Nayak and Ramesh Chhotray, who eventually achieve high ranks in government service.

Years later, when Ramesh returns to his alma mater to repay a debt he once borrowed for his mother, he finds Agani neglected by his family and living in dire circumstances. The story unfolds as Ramesh and Murali join forces to help their mentor, resolve Ramesh’s entanglement in a land scam, and finally see Agani honored with the President’s Award.

The teaser highlights the emotional and moral core of the film, emphasizing the profound influence a teacher can have on their students. As the old student association aptly declares, “A teacher is the real God for the student.”

Produced by Kamal Cine Productions with Amara Muzik as the official music label, “SIR” promises to be a heartfelt tribute to the selfless dedication of teachers, celebrating how they shape generations through their guidance and care.
