Bhubaneswar – One of the most anticipated Odia films, ‘Bindusagar’, will have its world premiere on November 25, 2025, at the 56th edition of the International Film Festival of India (IFFI), Goa. The film will be showcased as part of the prestigious Gala Presentation, marking a significant milestone for Odia cinema on the global stage.

Directed by Abhishek Swain and penned by Abhishek Das, Bindusagar is produced by Shiladitya Bora of Platoon One Films, in collaboration with Vinay Reddy and Shubho Shekhar Bhattacharjee of Boundless Blackbuck Films, and in association with Nikhil Chaudhary of MDC Filmworks.

The film boasts a stellar ensemble cast, including Prakruti Mishra, Dipanwit Dashmohapatra, Sonalli Sharmisstha, and Satya Ranjan, alongside veterans Sukant Rath, Robin Das, and Pranab Rath, blending fresh talent with seasoned experience.

Bindusagar tells the story of a young woman’s journey to reconnect with her roots, intertwined with a grieving father’s search for faith. Set against the spiritually rich city of Bhubaneswar, the narrative unfolds as a shared journey of healing, redemption, and rediscovery, captured with lyrical visuals and a sensitive storytelling style.

Producer Shiladitya Bora, whose previous productions include Bayaan (TIFF 2025), Ghaath (Berlinale 2023), and National Award–winner Picasso, said:
“Odisha has a rich cinematic legacy that deserves a global stage. We hope this marks a new era where Odia films travel, win hearts, and take their rightful place internationally. This film is our humble beginning in that direction.”

The film’s creative team includes National Award-winning cinematographer Deepak Kumar (Pratikshya), Bishwajeet Pattnaik, sound designer Pragyan Gogoi (Pataal Lok), production designer P. Debaprasad Behera (Jajabara 2.0), costume designer Shilpi Agarwal (Bayaan, Paradise), and editor Smruti Ranjan Mishra (Chardham).

An 8-song soundtrack complements the film, featuring voices like Prakruti Mishra, Humane Sagar, Antara Chakraborty, Ananya Sritam Nanda, and others, further immersing audiences in its cultural tapestry.

National Award-winning actor Prakruti Mishra, who plays Shreeja, expressed her pride:
“Bindusagar isn’t just a film; it’s an emotion — a bridge between our roots and the world. Being part of the first Odia film to reach global audiences is historic and fills me with immense pride.”

Director Abhishek Swain added:
“With Bindusagar, we wanted to tell a hyperlocal story through a universal cinematic lens. IFFI is the perfect platform for its first showcase, and we are grateful to premiere this story on such a prestigious global stage.”
