Bhubaneswar: The makers of the much-awaited Odia film Murabi have unveiled the character of actress Ankita Mohanty, introducing her as ‘Minu’, the central figure of the story and the epitome of a middle-class daughter-in-law.

Minu is portrayed as the heart and backbone of her family — a woman who runs the kitchen, cares for her husband, in-laws, and little daughter, all while silently bearing the weight of endless responsibilities. Behind her calm smile lies a tale of pain, sacrifice, and unspoken strength.

“Every home has a Minu,” the makers said while introducing the character. “She is the unsung hero who keeps everything together, yet never gets time to recharge herself. Murabi will give voice to her untold story.”

Ankita Mohanty’s character promises to strike a deep emotional chord with audiences, reflecting the struggles and resilience of Odisha’s middle-class women.

Murabi marks the debut production of Mentis Films and is directed by award-winning duo Peenakee Singh and Sisir Kumar Sahu, known for acclaimed works like Dalcheeni and Phalguni Chaitra. The film also stars Kuna Tripathy and Choudhary Jayaprakash Das in pivotal roles.

Produced by Vishal Mourya and Debi Prasad Lenka, the creative minds behind the hit film Daman, Murabi is being described as a story “born from the heart of Odisha’s middle class – raw, real, and rooted.”

The film is slated for a November release, with teasers and first-look posters expected soon.
