Bhubaneswar: The third edition of the Children’s Film Festival, organised by Film Society Bhubaneswar (FSB), kicked off on Wednesday at the GKCM Odissi Research Centre with vibrant participation from students of Loyola Odia Medium School and KIIT International School.
The festival opened with Flow (2024), an 85-minute silent animated film by Latvian director Gints Zilbalodis, followed by a classic screening of Charlie Chaplin’s The Gold Rush (1925), commemorating its centenary.
Students expressed excitement about the screenings and hands-on workshops. “Watching Flow was an amazing experience,” said Somali Basantiya, a Class VI student from Loyola. “We should help each other in times of need.” Chandana Das of KIIT International School added, “I can’t wait to see our work presented on the final day.”
FSB President Subrat Beura emphasized the festival’s mission: “Our aim is to expose young minds to films from across the world.” Executive Member Sankalp Mohanty curated interactive activities for students to encourage creative learning.
The festival continues with more global cinema and student-led showcases in the coming days.
