Cuttack: The 6th edition of the Nirmal Pandey Memorial Film Festival is set to take place on August 9 and 10 at the Biju Patnaik Film Institute in Cuttack.
The two-day festival commemorates the life and legacy of the late Bollywood actor Nirmal Pandey, best known for his powerful performances in films such as Bandit Queen and Train to Pakistan.
The announcement was made at a press conference in Bhubaneswar, attended by several notable figures from the film industry. Among those present were festival director Anil Dubey (Mumbai), veteran cameraman and director Chandrashekhar Rath, festival head and patron Rekha Gaur (Mumbai), and music associates Amod Bhatt and Shubhashree Bhatt, who worked closely with Nirmal Pandey.
Other dignitaries included Surendra Kumar Sahu (Advisor, Biju Patnaik Film Institute), film producer Akshay Parija, media planner Pranay Jethi, actor Sukanta Rath, and actress Pinky Pradhan.
This year, the festival will screen 30 films across various languages, offering a rich mix of regional and national cinema.
Noteworthy Odia films to be featured include: Nirbak, Abha, Daman, Adamya, Anubhav
Also on the schedule are documentaries by Chandrashekhar Rath, such as Saath Chalna Hi Zindagi Hai and Umeed, along with a diverse lineup including: My Mother My World, Joggers Park, Adieu, Khara Modak, Nazariya and many more.
The festival’s broader vision is to expand across India, introducing audiences nationwide to Nirmal Pandey’s artistry and contribution to Indian cinema. The organizers are committed to celebrating his legacy by taking the festival to different parts of the country in the years to come.
