On Saturday, President of India Draupadi Murmu visited to offer prayers and sought the blessings of Lord Lingaraj in old town area of temple city Bhubaneswar. The first lady was accompanied by her daughter.
The President’s calvacade took the route of Mausi Maa Chowk through the Ratha road. She washed her feet at the Padahara pond prior to entering the temple. She started by worshipping Lord Siddha Ganesh then entered the Garbha Gurha for the darshan of Lord Lingaraj. Badu Niyoga secretary Kamalkant Badu helped the President in the Jalabhisheka and worshipping rituals of the Lord on behlaf of the temple administration. The Sevayats offered Kotha Bhog, Mua and Korakhae to the President.
The President’s visit to Lingaraj Temple had a duration of 30 minutes during which public darshan was closed. On account of the first lady’s visit, tight security measures were put in place by the police department and the Govt of Odisha. Expressing her delight, President of India Draupadi Murmu left a handwritten note.
It is worth mentioning here that this is Draupadi Murmu’s second visit to Odisha after becoming the President of India. During her previous visit, she paid obeisance to Lord Jagannath when she visited the Jagannath Temple at Puri dham in the beach town of Puri.
