Prachi Valley Documentary Unveiled; Grand Festival Scheduled for November

Bhubaneswar, Odisha, August 14, 2025: Once home to a flourishing ancient civilization, the Prachi Valley — shaped by the meandering Prachi River and steeped in history — stepped into the limelight with a special screening of the documentary “Prachi Valley: The Forgotten Legacy.” Recognised as one of the world’s unique and ancient cultural landscapes, the valley’s story spans anthropology, archaeology, geology, nature, environment, heritage, culture, and geography.
Organised by the PNV Foundation and supported by Prelude, the screening offered audiences a glimpse into the valley’s human heritage, natural beauty, and the urgent need for its preservation. The event also served as a curtain-raiser for the Prachi Valley Festival, a seven-day celebration scheduled for mid-November 2025. The festival will bring together art, music, performances, heritage walks, nature trails, and cultural exchanges, aiming to unite locals, visitors, scholars, and explorers in an immersive journey through history, revival, and community spirit.
Historian Shri Anil Dhir, Member of the Governing Council and Convenor of INTACH Bhubaneswar, said after the screening:
“Prachi Valley has a rich history. I spent two years researching it, yet my work still feels incomplete. Many have studied the valley, and perhaps, with more ideas and films, the research could one day be completed.”
Veteran actor and former OFDC Chairman Shri Kuna Tripathy added:
“During my research, I did not focus on the ancient valley, but this documentary opened my eyes to Odisha’s 3,000-year-old cultural pride. I hope to bring this heritage to the world through Odia films.”
With its deep-rooted traditions and spirit of prosperity, Prachi Valley has long symbolised unity and cultural exchange. Over centuries, it has nurtured human progress, shared knowledge, and fostered thriving communities — making it a heritage treasure of both local and global significance.
