Odia community in Riyadh celebrate Annual day of ROSA

Bhubaneswar/Riyadh: The Riyadh Odiya Socio-Cultural Association (ROSA) celebrated their 15th Annual Day with great pomp and show on 17th of November in Riyadh with an objective to popularize Odisha and its culture, art, and ethos.

The program included the lively presentation of speeches, prizes, felicitations, raffle draw and cultural extravaganza and had an audience of over 500 guests representing various states of India.

Abu Mathen George, Deputy Head of Mission at the Embassy of India, Riyadh, attended the event as the chief guest and was accompanied by other senior officials from the embassy namely First Secretary (Political & Commerce) Manusmriti, Second Secretary (Community Welfare) Moin Akhtar and Second Secretary (Consular) Sarata Kumar Nayak.

Dr. Dev Mohanty, a social worker, successful multinational industrialist and philanthropist of Odisha origin and the Chairman and Managing Director of ASMACS Group and Seemanta Patnaik, co-founder and Head of advisory, consulting and product innovation Secureyes were the two Guests of Honor for the evening.

ROSA President. Saroj Kumar Panigrahi welcomed the guests and all audience. The program started with the lighting of lamp, recitation of holy quran and gayatri mantra, address by Chief Guest and the both guests of honor.

All the programs presented at the event were very impressive. Children, youth and adults participated in Odissi, Sambaluri, modern dance and other performances, which were enjoyed by around 500 spectators.

Deepika Panigrahi, Chandana Patnaik and Dipica Patro were the choreographers and Mehvish Jilani was the co-ordinator for the official proceedings. Representatives from Odiya Associations of two other major cities of Saudi Arabia, Jubail and Dammam, attended the event and performed dance numbers. The melodious music of the guest Odiya playback singer Mrs. Anindita Das enthralled the audience.

The chief guest, George, lauded ROSA’s efforts in showcasing the culture of Odisha. Audience thoroughly enjoyed the extravagant cultural program and the interest, excitement and energy could be seen in the event hall.
