Nilakhi Patra Gears Up for Telugu Debut in ‘Beauty’

Popular actress Nilakhi Patra, known for her transition from television to cinema, is now all set to make her Telugu film debut with Beauty, directed by Siva Sai Vardhan. The film features Nilakhi in the lead role opposite Ankith Koyya.

In an exclusive conversation with Odia Celebrity, Nilakhi shared her excitement about this new venture. “During the shooting of an Odia movie, I received a call from the makers of Beauty. After a few meetings and reading the script, I decided to take up the project,” she said.

Though working in a different language could be challenging, Nilakhi found it relatively easy to adapt. “My family is originally from Rayagada district, and they speak fluent Telugu. That really helped me pick up the language quickly,” she explained.

Nilakhi began her acting career in 2020, appearing in Odia serials like Sindura Ra Adhikara and Gouri. She made her silver screen debut with the film Dasama, directed by Raja D, which also starred Sailendra Samantaray.

Speaking about her experience in both industries, she said, “In the Telugu industry, you get more time to prepare and work on your role. It’s a different but enriching experience.”

In the movie ‘Beauty’, Nilakhi portrays Alekhya, a young woman with big dreams and an even bigger heart. “It’s a love story, and the character is very close to my heart,” she added. The film is slated for release in late May or early June.

Nilakhi’s entry into the Odia entertainment industry was almost serendipitous. During a family trip to Puri, she met actor and comedian Guddu Bhai, a relative who encouraged her to audition for a role in a Tarang production. This led to her television debut with Sindura Ra Adhikara, followed by Gouri.

The actress is keen on exploring more female-centric roles and has several projects in the pipeline. “A few Odia films are ready for release, and I have some exciting new projects lined up,” she revealed. Nilakhi also expressed a desire to study cinematography in the future.
