Bhubaneswar: The golden era of Odia cinema has returned. A large number of young people are now queuing up to watch Odia films. Whether inside or outside the theaters, there’s a lot of excitement. Following Raja festival, the crowd gathered for the Odia film Ananta, directed by Sabyasachi Mohapatra and starring Sabyasachi Mishra, has brought back memories of that golden era.

The film Ananta is based on the timeless story “Randipua Ananta” by legendary Odia writer Fakir Mohan Senapati. The movie has been running houseful for two weeks. At Maharaja Cinema Hall, amidst hundreds of viewers, Hon’ble MLA of Ekamra, Bhubaneswar—Babu Singh—along with senior BJP leader Jagannath Pradhan, former MLA and BJP leader Priyadarshi Mishra, and several young leaders, watched the film together. Director Sabyasachi Mohapatra and actor Sabyasachi Mishra were also present.

MLA Babu Singh was visibly emotional after watching the film and praised the efforts of the producers, director, actors, actresses, and all those involved in making the movie. He emphasized that since the film represents pure Odia identity, it deserves encouragement at the government level and efforts should be made to make it tax-free.

He appreciated how a story from about 113 years ago was brought to life in 2025 with an accurate depiction of the time, environment, and circumstances of that era. Since the film reflects the stories of our land, he appealed through media for more and more people to go and watch Ananta.
