Bhubaneswar: Talented actor Abhishek Panda recently made his big-screen debut with the super hit Odia film Ghamaghot, directed by Raja D and produced by Kaushiik Das under Kaustav Dreamworks. The movie is currently streaming on the popular platform AAONXT, receiving widespread acclaim for its gripping storyline and powerful performances.
Fresh off the success of Ghamaghot, Panda also recently seen in a music video titled Re Mana, where he stars alongside Jasmine Rath. The actor recently sat down with Odia Celebrity to share insights about his journey, experiences, and future plans.
From English Student to Screen Sensation
Before entering the world of acting, Abhishek was teaching English literature at Khalikote College. But when an acting opportunity came his way, he decided to take a leap. “I was doing teaching in college when the lockdown happened, so the acting gig caught my attention,” Panda recalls. His love for literature and poetry, nurtured since childhood, naturally drew him toward storytelling and performance.
Panda explains how his connection with director Raja D helped him land his debut film role. “I had worked with Raja on my first music album Mote Bodhe Hela Prema. He knows me from that time and wanted someone young, flexible, and willing to dedicate time to the project. That’s how I got on board with Ghamaghot.”
Diving Deep into His Character
In Ghamaghot, Panda plays Abhinash panda — a character driven by a desire to make quick money, often taking shortcuts that ultimately have consequences. “My character wants to earn money at any cost, which impacts his life in many ways,” he shares, highlighting the complexity of the role.
Roots and Early Inspirations
Born in Rourkela and raised in Berhampur, Panda was a literature enthusiast long before acting beckoned. He was even on the path to becoming a lecturer at Khalikote College, Berhampur. “I’ve always been attracted to poetry and literature, and many of my school teachers said I was born for acting,” he smiles. This early encouragement paved the way for his initial foray into acting through music albums, followed by several telefilms.
The Journey So Far
Reflecting on his career trajectory, Panda says, “I’m learning at every step. The industry is uncertain and full of challenges, but passion for movies is essential to keep going.” His grounded approach and determination have earned him respect and admiration from peers and audiences alike.

Support System and Personal Life
Abhishek’s journey has been supported by his wife Damini, whom he married last year. “She has encouraged me a lot,” he says warmly. He also credits his elder brother and sister-in-law for their unwavering support, especially when he first came to Bhubaneswar to pursue acting.

With several projects lined up, including Millet Diary, Ram Rajya, Motorcycle, and Chaki Suna, Abhishek Panda is excited about what the future holds. “I’m ready to explore new roles and continue growing as an actor,” he affirms confidently.
