Bhubaneswar: Rahul Roy, the hero of the film Aashiqui who created a sensation in the Bollywood film industry in the 1990s, has now set foot on Odisha’s soil. Aashiqui was a popular Hindi movie — a musical romantic drama directed by Mahesh Bhatt, starring Rahul Roy and Anu Aggarwal in lead roles. The music was composed by Nadeem–Shravan, with vocals by Kumar Sanu.
The film’s songs gained immense popularity, and Aashiqui became a major box-office hit, later considered a classic in Indian cinema.
Today, that same classic hero, Rahul Roy, has arrived in Odisha to inaugurate a Jatra stage. He will grace the grand opening of “Natyamandap,” produced by Jatra sensation Rani Panda.
Earlier, Bollywood comedian and formidable villain actor Shakti Kapoor had also performed in Odia Jatra shows. Now, Rahul Roy is coming for the inauguration.
This marks a proud moment for our “Jollywood” Jatra stage, which is now reaching greater heights — and in the days to come, Odisha’s Jatra industry will surely become a topic of discussion even in the Mumbai film industry.
