‘Bou Buttu Bhuta’ Smashes Box Office Records, Crosses ₹10 Crore Mark
Bhubaneswar: At the box office, it’s now the reign of Babushaan. With back-to-back hits like Daman, Pabar, and Bou Buttu Bhuta, superstar Babushaan has earned the title of “Box Office King.” Released during the Raja festival, Bou Butu Bhoot, starring Babushaan, has made history at the box office. Within 11 days of release, the film has grossed over ₹10 crores, breaking all previous records.
On its first day alone, it earned ₹51.2 lakhs, breaking the record previously held by Anubhav’s Karma. Over time, it went on to break Babusan’s own records set by Pabar and Daman. On the second day, the film earned ₹41.3 lakhs. By the third day, its earnings rose to ₹1.15 crores. By the fourth day, the earnings reached ₹2 crores, and by the end of the first week, it had grossed ₹7.15 crores. On the 11th day, the film surpassed ₹10 crores in total earnings, setting an all-time record in the Odia film industry.
With more than 600 houseful shows across Odisha and outside, the production team is hopeful that the film will perform even better in the coming days. Babushaan has credited this success to the people of Odisha and expressed his gratitude to the Odia audience for showering him with so much love. He has also acknowledged the efforts of all the cast and crew, and conveyed his best wishes to them. He mentioned that this success will inspire new producers to create better films in the future.
Previously, Babushaan’s Daman and Pabar had achieved exceptional commercial success, but Bou Butu Bhoot has become a certified blockbuster. Not only that, it has surpassed the box office earnings of popular Hindi films like Jawan, KGF, Baahubali 2, and Aamir Khan’s Laal Singh Chaddha (Sitaare Zameen Par) in Odisha.
Produced by Trupti Satapathy and presented by Babushaan Films, Bou Buttu Bhuta was released in around 90 theatres across Odisha and beyond. The film features Ollywood superstar Babusan Mohanty in the lead role, with evergreen Archita opposite him. Veteran actress Aparajita also plays a crucial role in the movie. Other supporting roles are played by Chaudhury Jayprakash Das, KK, Ravi Mishra, Anugulia Banti, and Udit Guru.
The film is directed by Jagadish Mishra. The story and screenplay were written by M. Imran, with dialogues by Pranab Prasanna Rath and music by Gaurav Anand. Rudrakant Singh handled cinematography, Sambit Jena is the executive producer, and Haraprasad Mahapatra led the marketing and promotions. Prakash Films is responsible for distribution.
The horror-comedy-suspense drama has been well received, especially for its songs Dunguthili… and Oda Lage…, which have become audience favorites.
