Bhubaneswar: The acclaimed director duo Vishal Mourya and Debi Prasad Lenka, best known for their National Award-winning film Daman, have offered fans an exciting behind-the-scenes peek at their ambitious upcoming project Landfall.
Sharing exclusive images from the set, the directors wrote, “Friends, we’ve been receiving so many queries about the progress of Landfall—about the shooting, set work, and how the film is shaping up. So here we are sharing a quick glimpse with all of you.”
For the first time in Odisha, a massive set of this scale is being built, aimed at delivering a cinematic experience comparable to any big-budget national or even Hollywood production.
“Every detail—from VFX to set design—is being crafted with sweat, pain, skill, and the dedication of a 100% Odia team,” they added.
Landfall will depict the raw power and devastating impact of cyclones, a subject deeply connected to Odisha’s history and emotions. The film promises a thrilling, edge-of-the-seat experience with high-end animation and cutting-edge visual effects.
The project is presented by Pixel Movies and produced by Prabhat Kumar Pradhan. It stars Sabyasachi Mishra in the lead role, opposite actress Divyasnata. The team revealed that the film has been in pre-production for three years, and shooting will begin soon. With a budget of ₹10 crore, this will be the most expensive film in Odia cinema history, releasing in both Odia and Hindi.
The title and first look were unveiled recently at Hotel The New Marion, Bhubaneswar, in a star-studded event attended by DG Fire Services Sudhanshu Sarangi, former Tehsildar Surajit Das, and Additional Tehsildar Nrusingha Charan Swain, who shared their real-life cyclone experiences. Also present were music director Gaurav Anand, cinematographer Pratap Raut, and many industry personalities.
Producer Prabhat Kumar Pradhan remarked,
“Just as Baahubali brought a revolutionary change to South Indian cinema, Landfall will give Odia cinema a new identity in animation.”
The directors closed with a teaser: “This is just a small glimpse of what’s cooking. Stay tuned for more updates… A cyclone is coming.”
