Mumbai: Dangal fame Actress Fatima Sana Shaikh, who will be playing the role of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi in the film Sam Bahadur, has opened up about playing the former PM and being compared with Kangana Ranaut. The latter is also playing the same role in her film Emergency.
Talking about the same, Fatima said that while she is doing her role according to her script, Kangana is performing hers differently. She also added that if two actors are playing the same role, comparisons are bound to happen and there is nothing wrong with it. According to her, both approaches can be right. It’s all about the spirit of the character.
Spilling some beans about how she prepped up for the character in Sam Bahadur, Fatima shared that she read a lot about her. She added that while Kangana is playing Indira from the time when she was much older, she is playing her from the time before.
According to her, Indira Gandhi’s journey is very interesting. She also added that people should talk more about freedom fighters, rulers and emperors as everyone should know what has happened in the country.
Sam Bahadur, to hit the theatres December 1, also stars Vicky Kaushal and Sanya Malhotra in lead roles.
