Bhubaneswar: Veteran Odia actor Kuna Tripathy has stressed that actors should keep their political ideologies separate from their professional responsibilities, asserting that acting must remain their first priority.

“We are part of the Odia film industry, and we should remain united for its growth and development. Unfortunately, some actors allow their political ideologies to influence their relationships, leading to differences among them. This is unfortunate,” Tripathy said.

He emphasised that the Odia film industry needs collective efforts and a shared commitment to its development, irrespective of individual political affiliations.

Kalinga Studio’s Development a Collective Achievement

Commenting on the recent development and inauguration of Kalinga Studio, Tripathy said the project was significant for the Odia film industry, given the studio’s importance to the state’s film ecosystem.

Tripathy, who previously served as chairman of the Odisha Film Development Corporation (OFDC) and was associated with the development of Kalinga Studio, said he was unable to attend the inauguration due to personal health issues.

He described the studio’s development as an important step that would benefit the entire Odia film industry.

“The development of Kalinga Studio is very important for the Odia film industry. Its benefits will extend to everyone associated with the industry,” he said.

Tripathy noted that the project had begun during the previous government’s tenure and was finally inaugurated under the present government. He said the achievement should not be credited to any single individual, as several people had contributed to the project at different stages.

“I cannot claim all the credit for this achievement. It is the result of the efforts of different people, and no single person can take sole credit for it,” he said.

On ‘A’ Certificates for Odia Films

Reacting to the recent certification of several films, including movies released around Dussehra, with an ‘A’ (Adults Only) certificate, Tripathy expressed confidence in the expertise of the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC).

He said the board comprises individuals with expertise in their respective fields and that their decisions should be viewed in that context.

“The CBFC has different people who are experts in their respective fields. I am sure they must have noticed something that others may have overlooked,” Tripathy said.
