Shaakuntalam new trailer: Samantha Ruth Prabhu’s fantasy film looks ambitious
The second trailer for Samantha led fantasy drama Shaakuntalam dropped online.
It looks like the makers have spent handsomely on the production design and the VFX of the film. It seems the director Gunasekhar had wanted to create a paradise for this latest adaptation of Kalidasa’s timeless play, Shakuntala.
Be it the glimpses of the war sequence or the face-off between Dushyanta (Dev Mohan) and the elephant, the CGI looks not-so-convincing. On the other hand, the extreme-wide shots and the few forest sequences are pretty well-done.
Overall, Shaakuntalam looks like a project that’s punching above its weight. Also, one cannot overlook the Baahubali-sque war setup and the king’s darbar.
On the other hand, Samantha Ruth Prabhu seems to have given it all for Shaakuntalam. Even the small bits of her performance in the trailer speak a lot about her effort. The trailer is a hit among her fans, and a user pointed out that the CGI is far better than what was seen in Gunashekar’s last film, Rudhramadevi.
