Shooting of Dandakali Begins; Director Sudhanshu Mohan Sahu Shares BTS Glimpses

Bhubaneswar: The much-anticipated Odia film Dandakali has officially gone on floors, marking the beginning of its shooting schedule. Adding to the excitement, veteran filmmaker Sudhanshu Mohan Sahu recently shared behind-the-scenes (BTS) images from the sets on social media, offering fans an early glimpse into the film’s making.

The BTS stills feature key members of the cast, hinting at the film’s rooted and culturally rich narrative inspired by the traditional Dandakali practices of Berhampur. The visuals have already generated buzz among cinephiles, raising expectations for the project.

Presented by Rajashree Cine Crafts, Dandakali is produced by Rajashree Ghosh. The film explores a compelling story of faith and tradition, deeply connected to Odisha’s cultural heritage. The story is penned by Abhisikta Mishra, while the music is composed by noted music director Prem Anand, with lyrics by Dr. Nirmal Nayak and Bapu Goswami.

The film boasts a strong ensemble cast including superstar Sidhant Mohapatra, Mahasweta Ray, Krishna Kar, Suryamayee Mohapatra, Usasi Misra, Jayaprakash Das, Amar Mahapatra, Udit Guru, Elli Padhi, Tripti Mirambika, and theatre artist Chitrasen, who is being introduced as a lead actor for the first time.

Several other actors, including Gurudev Maharathi, Pritiranjan and Nihar Samal, also play pivotal roles.

With shooting now underway and early visuals already creating a stir online, Dandakali is shaping up to be one of the most culturally significant Odia films in the making.
