Bhubaneswar: On the auspicious occasion of Maha Bishub Sankranti (Pana Sankranti), Odia New Year, and Hanuman Jayanti, leading production banner Shree Pictures marked a major milestone—celebrating 40 years in the industry—with the grand reveal of the first look of its upcoming film Suna Chadhei.

The film is a reimagining of the beloved 1988 classic of the same name, bringing back a story that once struck an emotional chord with audiences across Odisha. Promising a blend of nostalgia and contemporary storytelling, the new version aims to recreate the timeless charm of the original while appealing to today’s viewers.

The first look introduces Sivani Sangita as Bini, the central character that became iconic decades ago.

The role was originally portrayed by Archana Joglekar in the 1988 film, which also featured stalwarts like Uttam Mohanty, Bijay Mohanty, Debu Bose, and Anita Das in pivotal roles. The original was directed by Rabi Kinagi and produced by Keshab Rout, Sunil Rout, and Mina Rout.

The upcoming remake is penned and produced by Smruti Ranjan Rout, with direction by Ramesh Rout, who has also co-written the screenplay. The film is jointly produced by Chiranjeeb Sahoo and Shubham Mohanty. Dialogues are crafted by Sudipta Sundar Swain, while music is composed by Baidyanath Dash.

The original Suna Chadhei revolved around Bini, a compassionate nurse who marries Abinash against his father’s wishes. Fate leads her to care for an ailing man, only to later discover he is her estranged father-in-law.

The emotional narrative culminates in reconciliation and familial unity—a theme expected to remain central in the remake.
With a strong legacy behind it and a fresh cinematic vision ahead, Suna Chadhei is slated for a theatrical release in 2026, rekindling memories while introducing a new generation to one of Odia cinema’s cherished stories.
