Story Rooted in Sacred Tradition
Kangula – Maa Kalira Danda Nacha is inspired by the ancient Danda Nacha tradition of Odisha, a ritualistic festival celebrated predominantly in Ganjam district, Dhenkanal district, and Angul district.
Observed during the month of Chaitra, the festival involves devotees known as Danduas or Bhoktas who perform rigorous rituals dedicated to Maa Kali and Lord Shiva over several days.
The film, inspired by true events, is described as “a divine tale from the soil of Odisha,” aiming to bring the spiritual depth and cultural richness of this tradition to the big screen.

The film features Sambeet Acharya in the lead role as Rajan, a fearless and intense character from Kangula village. The ensemble cast includes Suryamayee Mohapatra as Purnima, Abhishek Giri as Kuna, and Sritam Das as Raghu, along with other supporting actors.
With the release of the new poster, anticipation for Kangula continues to build, as audiences await a cinematic experience that blends devotion, mystery and powerful storytelling. The film will hit theatres worldwide on April 24, 2026.
